Queen of Chinatown

Stuck with the stubborn mindset that I can finish revision within two days before the exam, I decided to let my legs get the best of me and went venturing around town. This time I've landed myself at Clarke Quay and Chinatown area.

I visited Central, the newly opened shopping mall which is located directly above Clarke Quay MRT and faces MoS on the opposite side. Maybe because it's a weekday, so the whole place was relatively quiet when I went. Save only for a few office workers who were there to do a little shopping during their lunch break, students and people like me who's so free to go out shopping when supposed to be revising at home.

Once I happened to barge into a Giordano store there and I nearly got repelled by a strong force of shock that came. Nothing supernatural but that those Giordano staff were so enthusiastic and loud in their greetings - "Hi! Welcome to Giordano!!" - such that I felt intimidated. Not just one but the same thing was encountered in a few other shops that I patroned thereafter as well. They really treasure whichever customers that came by and this goes to show businesses ain't that doing well there.

Nevertheless, they have a good number of fashion shops operating there (think: Marina Square) and thus not a bad idea to go there and check it out.

From Clarke Quay, I walked down to Chinatown where I continued my shop-ploration. Catching sight of the Chinese New Year decorations; Walking down the squeezy street market under the humid weather; For the first time, bought a 'cheena' mandarin collar shirt to wear for CNY; And doing the unbelievable stuff like queuing up to buy Lim Chee Guan 'bak gua' (barbecued sliced pork). It took me exactly 30 mins of waiting time.

---> Pink laundry that used to be hanging.

---> Me looking 'Cheena'.
---> "wo shi zhong guo ren"

---> Singaporeans love to queue.
