Ham It Up
Boring CNY I spent this year.
My mum have been terribly sick until she's 'bed'-ridden (Choy! I mean because she spends the whole day sleeping on the bed) that we couldn't go anywhere for visiting but to stay at home. She's too weak to do anything, just even walking to the kitchen.
As such we could only have visitors coming to our house and that also provide the only source of angbao revenue for us.
And with the chef down, for the past two days we have been surviving on white porridge cooked by my dad, served with canned spicy pork cubes, preserved caixin (lettuce), braised peanuts and salted-mackerel fish. Yeah, sounds like we're living in a war.
Yesterday my dad even whipped up a dish of steamed fish with canned longans. Although I applauded that the idea was unique but the taste was a bit weird with the sweet longans added. For a moment it deterred me this long-time-favourite-eater-of-longans from liking the fruit.
With nothing to do, I decided to take a few pictures and blog about my beloved room - one which I'm trying hard to revamp it into the next Studio 54. And I'm even more determine to do so after reading yesterday's The Sunday Times which features about New Nostalgia vs Old Nostalgia.
Retro, I'm lovin' it!
