1, 2, 3, Smile....
Happening for the week - the ongoing IMF (International Monetary Fund) and World Bank meetings. An important big event where representatives from member countries come together to discuss ways to promote economic growth and stability and bah, bah, bah.
Well this year Singapore is the very proud host of it. Once again the government showed us what is called wayang by planting beautiful and colourful plants along Orchard Road, washing our road signs and repaving the roads, increasing the frequencies of our MRT trains, tightening the security and actively encouraging Singaporeans to "Smile".
Perhaps they should also try to know why some people are not smiling. Police/Civil Defence/Army personnel are not because of the need to do stand-bys and have their weekends burned. Blangas are not because they need to dash, oops i mean, rush to do more cleaning and repairing chores than Cinderella. Shoppers and motorists are not because they need to take a long winding route to get to Suntec City due to all that road blockages. At the same time, retailers have no reasons to smile at after seeing such less shoppers.
But i heard the situation has changed after a report in last Saturday's ST saying that it's the best time to hit malls around Suntec City as the place will be relatively empty due to road closures and this means, no shopping queues! No wonder there was quite a big crowd when I headed down to Marina Square last Saturday with Leow & gang.
Anyway that day we had met up to give Gee.K. a birthday dinner treat and we settled it at this restaurant named "New York New York", which is located in one corner in CityLink beside HMV; One which we have passed by million thousand of times but never once step into it. So that day we decided to give it a try.
It seems the place is pretty popular with people doing birthday celebrations cause in one night we witnessed two groups of youngsters doing so. Perhaps it got to do with their nice ambience and a New York-feel furnishing of that place. Everything looks fine except their tables and seats arrangement which is quite cramped i have to say. No offence but if you're someone on the heavy side, i think it might be abit hard for you to get into your seat.
Well food wise, to admit, it's pretty sucky. At the end of the day, Leow was the most disgruntled customer among us after he complained of how that plate of freaking meatful-but-tasteless whole chicken which was served up to him don't looked exactly like how it is pictured in the menu. Well, who's to say? Pictures can be deceiving. In the end Leow looked like he just ended a Chicky war, with lying on his plate is a poor little messy chicken which was stripped off its meat in a very half-f*** manner. Lolx...
As for me, things weren't better too. I ordered their "Jiggy Piggy" - a very nice name given to their pork chops - but failed to make me get jiggy with it, judging by only having two pieces of battered meat, served with miserable pieces of wedges and a whole bunch of purple lettuces. This serving is just way too small for a hungry lion.
I guessed the only thing which makes me favoured that restaurant is their free green apple-flavoured candy floss, something which i've eyed for throughout the whole dinner after seeing others also having it.
At first when I see you cry
Yeah it makes me smile
Yeah it makes me smile
At first I feel bad for a while
But then I just smile
I go ahead and smile
