Rock Your Baby
Oh shucks... my neck-aching condition seem to have worsened after yest...
Last nite was with Leow n another fren of ours to catch a show at the Cathy Picturehouse ( Dhoby Ghaut ). While to watch the show was one intention, trying out the seats was another.
The difference between this Picturehouse and with other normal theatres is that, the former only screens artistic kind of films ( those of which are award-winning types in watever film/arts festivals ), they cater less seatings ( there're nt many arts-appreciative people around, you know ) and most importantly, these seats cost a bomb of 6000 plus.
Do not expect that the high cost actually means gd standard quailty. The seats have been badly criticized for its 90 degrees angle designed; its wooden hard, rock stiff material that brings about great discomfortness during movie-watching ( so hard until an Ah-Ma who's so used to sleeping on wooden bed can oso complained =p ); plus oso becoz of da 6000 pricing, they implemented a rule tat no food and drinks are allowed inside coz of the fear tat movie-goers will dirty it.
The funny thing is, they still designed the seats with a drink-holder by the side, which is... yar... how redundant duh..!
And so u can expect, after testing out the seats for ourselves, the outcome is just DISASTEROUS!
At the end of the 1 1/2 hour show, the 3 of us walked out of the place with dizziness, headaches, tummy-aches, neck-aches and mouth-aches ( coz got juz too much dissatisfaction to say out ).
Anyway the show tat we had watched yest was this award-winning French film ( in the Cannes Film Festival ) by the title of, The Child ( L'enfant ). Story basically is abt this young man, who attempted to sell his newborn baby for money so as to support himself n his teenaged girlfren. But eventually da baby was gotten back after his gf fainted when she learnt of it, and thereafter more trouble came his way when he was ignored by his gf and he sank deeper into his stealing habit.
Well I personally find it quite a meaningful movie to watch coz it's like a small documentary tat talks about social issues faced by youngsters nowadays, stuff like pre-marital sex, shotguns, the struggles to look after a baby who's born out-of-wedlock, crimes, family break-ups and so on. But it can be quite bored indeed coz the movie is set in a rather slow pace throughout.
Phew... hope this would be the last time watching a show at the Picturehouse. =p
